As long as it's creative...

A lot of the times, we use words without really understanding what they mean. We have a generalized understanding of them, but their actual definition always seems to escape us. Then there comes the words that we each percieve in different ways--the words that have different meanings to different people. These could be words are usually depend on the person, except for one. Creativity. What is it? We all seem to have different view points on what defines creativity, who is creative and why.

According to online sources, creativity is the ability to use the imagination to develop new and original ideas or things, especially in an artistic context. But to me, I think that creativity stands for so much more. In my own terms, creativity is the quality that people possess which enables them to express how they feel about specific topics and ideas, who they are as a person, and what they believe in as an individual. What creativity exactly is depends on who the person is, as well as where their interests, hobbies, and skills lay. People can express different levels of creativity in a number of separate and unique ways. It is easier for a person to show their creative side when they have a large amount of interest, dedication, or passion for whatever project they are working on at that moment.

                                                          So, who exactly is creative?

Whenever I am told to think of a person or group of people who are labeled as creative or “out of the box” thinkers, my mind primarily goes to musicians. I think this for a couple of different reasons. Basically, in order to become a successful artist in the music industry—or any career that is based off one’s imagination, like an author, composer, screenplay, artist, or architect—it is crucial to not be afraid of showing others what you are capable of doing or to show them what actually goes on inside your mind. Musicians are the epitome of being creative because they are constantly challenging themselves to come up with their own material for songs, music, and videos, as well as marketing ideas. If a person is either finds or makes something that is new, original, and true to themselves, they are being creative, which is what those in the music industry do every day.

Even if you're not a musician though, you can still be full of creativity. A person can still be creative if they use another source for inspiration to an original project, but if they take a selection from the piece that they are using for motivation and claim it to be their own, they have ceased to be creative. A person with no creative capability is just like someone who plagiarizes a selection from a book or published piece of work. It's copying, it's wrong, it's not unique nor interesting. It's been done and seen before.

I personally believe that every person in the world has the ability to be creative. Everyone has the power and access to use and show off that side of themselves, but very few actually use the material given to them. Using your own creative can take you far in life, and that’s why a lot of people find themselves behind locked doors. If you're too scared to make a committment and let people see who you are, then you're hiding away that creative part of you. You're blocking your imagination from the rest of the world.

As long it's creative, you'll be happy with the outcome. Doors will open up in your life and you'll be able to enter into new chapters of your life with ease. It may even help you to better undestand who you are as a person.

Get out and embrace your creative side.
